See a buffalo, shoot a buffalo?

I firmly understand the challenges in the staffing industry right now. What we are experiencing doesn't make sense given the current economic client. The market is up, unemployment is low, and hiring overall is strong yet agencies continue to struggle. Having been through numerous market corrections I see a familiar pattern, a curve that we just need to stay ahead of and ride out as best we can.

That's great, Stu, but in the meantime, we gotta eat. True, but we don't need to cannibalize each other. I saw a healthcare staffing company advertise for a very senior finance position for one of their clients. I do not doubt that the folks at that firm are very smart and can probably hold a conversation with just about anyone. Still, if I am a finance professional I would struggle to get the level of detail I would require speaking with someone who focuses on locum tenens for a living.

I often lament that real recruiting is matchmaking, not keyword matching. Maybe it's just me but I never want to overpromise and under-deliver and a good friend or a true professional would only want what is best for you. If you need a doctor, an engineer, a butcher, a baker or a candlestick maker for that matter I'm not your guy. It is a small community though and I definitely know someone more qualified than I who can help you.

Let's stick to our knitting folks and to continue the medical theme let's follow the Hippocratic Oath, "First do no harm."
